In May, when finding any spare time in your spring schedule is difficult, it’s hard to see where spring-cleaning fits in. Yet at the same time, longer days and screens on the windows make most of us want to get rid of clutter – lighten the load so to speak. So where to start, and how to prioritize?

For children, it’s pretty straightforward (especially when they’re old enough to do it themselves): set aside, donate or hand-down snow gear, pants, long-sleeve T’s and sweats. Replace with shorts, T’ summer beach dresses for weddings summer beach dresses for weddingss, 10 pounds of spring athletic gear and maybe a sundress or button down for spring recitals/special events. 

For women, it’s a bit more time-consuming, but we hope the following tips will help simplify the process. 

The feedback we consistently hear from our Wayland friends and acquaintances is that they have two primary clothing needs: 1) business casual — for work, meetings, volunteer commitments, church/temple, etc.; and 2) weekday/weekend casual (or as one of our Wayland clients who works from home said, â evening dress evening dress€œthe only place I’m seen these days is at a field for soccer or baseball, so I want “field-appropriate”).

With that in mind, pack up the winter gear, suede boots and heavy sweaters to make room for: bras accessories bras accessories

Business Casual : two pairs classic, dark-colored dress dress pants; tea length summer dresses crisp crewneck T’s in white and black ; cotton button downs — long and short sleeved; a cropped blazer and cardigan; knee-length skirt; and narrow leg/ankle length khaki-colored slack. A ballet flat is a safe bet with any outfit.

Field Appropriate : skinny jeans (remember the ones you tucked into boots all winter? Cuff them at the bottom and throw on a pair of ballet flats or Havaianas flip flops); light wool/cashmere cardigan; and as we’ cheap wedding dresses under 50 ve mentioned before â lingerie bag target lingerie bag target;€” the BP tanks are staple under all tops. Wear them alone under a cardigan, or layer under a T. If your favorite jeans have earned a hole over the long winter, cut them into shorts (keep them long â evening dress € dresses for summer 2011 ;” a bit below the knee to be worn down or with one cuff).

For both purposes, the best way to spend less but still feel brighter is to add a great pop of color. The same black cardigan and black pants you wore all winter will look terrific with a turquoise or coral scarf, necklace or cuff bracelet.
