There are some things I'm good at (falling asleep on an airplane, picking what bar you should have your birthday at beautiful, unique flower girl dresses, silk gowns and sequin gowns for 2011, on sale or clearance, spotting celebrities), but dancing is not one of them. This usually doesn't bother me, and it certainly doesn't stop me from completely embarrassing myself when a song I like comes on, but I thought for our wedding it might be a good idea to practice a slow dance in the safety of trained professionals before we trotted out onto the dance floor in front of all of our family and friends.

So Adam and I scheduled ourselves a lesson at "Dance with Me Soho," a beautiful, sparkly studio  founded by resident "Dancing with the Stars hottie" Maksim Chmerkovskiy and his father, Sasha. Not only is Maks gorgeous and the current "DWTS" favorite with partner Kirstie Alley (and modest too! My co-worker kindly informed me he refers to himself as "sex on a stick"), but this studio is seriously A-list -- they helped coach Chelsea Clinton and her husband Marc on their first dance, which they reportedly did to "Feeling Good."

We showed up at the studio not knowing what to expect, and I for one was very, VERY nervous. Of course this is when Adam piped up that he has LOTS of dance experience, little white dresses little white dresses having taken a ballroom class with an ex-girlfriend in college. Harrumph! Now I really felt like I had to prove myself. Luckily dance pros Steve Bleynis and Teresa Garcia took pity on us, and started us off with some very, very basic steps.

First things first, "Stand up straight!" Apparently sitting at a desk for 8+ hours a day has made us both look like little old hobbits. Here we are, practicing our posture. (I'm thinking green bridesmaid dresses : So we don't even know how to stand?! Uh-oh.)

We practiced taking slow steps to the front, to the back, and side to side.
